Melissa is a mother of 2 children. She had a passion for food at a very young age. As a child she spent most of her time helping in the kitchen. Her first job was working at a pizzeria and she spent several years working in the catering industry. She enjoys educating others about preparing affordable, convenient and nutritious meals, with the goal of having fun while cooking.

Melissa spent eight years as a high school Family and Consumer Science Teacher, also known as Home Economics. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Career and Technical Education and a Master's in Education Leadership. During her time as a teacher, she studied at Johnson and Wales Culinary School. While teaching Culinary Arts at the high school level, she began focusing on her passion of educating others about food and nutrition. She considers herself a foodie and enjoys trying different types of food.
